Unfortunately, due to heavy rain across the county all three of the men’s senior matches on Saturday were abandoned. Each side took 6 points from the week and will hopefully get back to playing on Saturday with only 2 games left of the season. The 1st XI visit Grappenhall, the 2nd XI host Haslington and the 3rd XI host Brooklands 5th XI.

Stockport Georgians Women’s 1st XI Vs Oakmere Women’s 1st XI

Some cricket was played this weekend with the women’s 1st XI visiting Stockport Georgians. The team won the toss and fielded first. A strong opening spell from Thisumi Jayawarna saw her take two wickets in her opening spell and set the tone for the innings. A 100-run partnership got the batting side going through the middle overs but was ended by Amy Jones (1/42). The 4th wicket was claimed by Abi Lamidey (1/19) at 169/4. Jayawarna (3/15) returned to claim her third before the game was ended by the rain after just 30 overs with the score at 215/5.
The Women’s 1st XI took 11 points from the game and guarantee their presence in the league next season. They look to finish strong with their final game Vs Northup Hall on the 13th of September.
