Upton 1st XI (213 all out) Vs Oakmere 1st XI (185 all out)
The 1st XI visited Upton and losing the toss were asked to field first. The innings got underway with a strong start as Matt Worsdale claimed a wicket in the first over. The scoring was slow to start with no boundaries hit in the first 4 overs. At the rate slightly increased Tom court (1/17) struck with the second wicket. The powerplay ended at 36/2 after 10 overs. The third wicket partnership began to grow, and a flurry of boundaries came as the score moved to 85/2 from 20 overs. Just before the halfway point Benedict Verma (1/11) and Ethan Mackin (1/36) struck in consecutive overs and the score was 117/4 at the halfway mark. A solid period of consistent bowling applied the pressure back onto the batting side. The score moved to 143/4 off 34 overs when the second drinks break was taken. After the break the rate increased dramatically and boundaries began to flow once more before Mat Giles (1/25) struck, stunting the progression. The score had moved to 195/5 off 40 overs and the quick jump in score looked to set up the batting side for the last 10 overs to propel the score forward. A wicket from Cupido (1/54) in the 41st over helped slow the side down followed by one for Matt Holland in the next over. Worsdale (2/29) returned to claim the 8th in the 45th over and a run out from Craig Phelan in the same over saw the batting side 9 down. The next ball Holland (2/32) struck again and taking 3 wickets for 1 run in 4 balls the innings grinded to a halt at 217 all out from 45.1 overs.
A decent score was posted but well within reach for the visiting side. An early wicket fell in the second over, immediately making the chase feel even larger. Some watchful batting got the innings underway, but two more wickets fell within the powerplay, and the score was 25/3 after 10 overs. A 4th fell in the 12th over to bring Aaron Court to bat with Zach Howdle. The pair did a fine job of rebuilding the innings and recovering from a shaky start batting through to the 20th over. Court (20) unfortunately fell in the 21st with the score at 65/5. Holland joined Howdle at the crease and continued on slowly building a partnership and the pair carried on batting, reaching the 2nd drinks break at 123/5 off 34 overs. The 50-run partnership brought the side back into the game now needing 95 form the final 16 overs. Howdles (34) resolute innings came to an end in the 37th over but holland continued. The score had moved to 135/6 off 40 overs with a huge effort required from the final 10. Another wicket fell in the 42nd over. Holland pressed on hitting a few boundaries and bringing up his 50 in the 45th over. Another wicket fell in the 46th and one in the 47th and the team sat at 176/9 off 47 overs. In an effort to see the side home Holland was dismissed for a well-made 61 in the following over and the innings finished at 182 all out from 47.4 overs.
A disappointing end against a strong team saw many positives as well as areas to improve. The team look to right these wrongs next week when they host Tattenhall.

Oakmere 2nd XI (123 all out) vs Warrington 2nd XI (252 all out)
Oakmere 2nd XI hosted Warrington and winning the toss, chose to bowl first. A good start for the opposition saw them move past 50 for the first wicket within the powerplay before Henri Shovelton struck int eh 10th over. The powerplay ended at 58/1 from 10 overs and a second for Shovelton soon after pulled the momentum back for the home side. A partnership threatened to grow before being halted by Brandon Jones claiming the 3rd and the score moved to 101/3 off 20 overs. The 4th was claimed by Mike Dodd (128) just after the halfway point and the regular wickets kept the score from getting away from the home side. At 132/4 after 30 overs the innings was in the balance. Shovelton (3/49) returned to strike once more, but the runs continued to flow as the end of the innings approached. An acceleration from the visitors saw the score to 210/5 from 40 overs. Jones (2/38) claimed the 6th in the following over to start the final 10. Percy Bratherton picked up the 7th and with his opening partner Corey Lewis put a quick end to the innings. Lewis (1/52) claimed one and Bratherton (3/24) 2 more taking 3 wickets for 1 run in 7 balls between them. The innings ended at 252 all out off 48 overs.
The chase started watchfully with Jack Pickering and Jones making it out of the powerplay with no loss. At 23/0 off 10 overs the platform was being set however, the first wicket fell in the 13th over as Pickering (12) fell. A second wicket followed soon after and the innings continued on in a slow, watchful manner preventing further collapse. Paul Guilford joined jones and the pair made it to 20 overs at 41/2 before Jones (19) was dismissed in the following over. Guilford continued from one end as regular wickets began to fall around him. 3 more wickets fell before the end of the 31st over and the score had reached 83/6. Guilford was eventually dismissed for a well made 42 in the 35th over. A wicket a piece fell in the following tow overs and the score was reduced to 102/9 from 37 overs. A few boundaries at the backend of the innings build a small partnership but the innings was ended as the final wicket fell in the 41st over and the score ended at 123 all out form 40.4 overs.
The side remain 10th in the league looking for a strong finish in the final 4 game starting with an away trip to Port Sunlight on Saturday.

Warrington 4th XI (246/9) vs Oakmere 3rd XI (171 all out)
The 3rd XI visited Warrington and winning the toss chose to field first. Harry Peters (1/10) took a wicket opening the bowling and Dan Gilbert (3/56) claimed three at regular intervals through the middle overs. A strong batting side continued to paly shots and kept the score moving quickly and Jasper Eaton (2/57) joined in claiming 2 wickets for himself. Samorendra Singh (3/38) returned to the attack and finished off the innings with 3 wickets and the score ended at 246/9 off 40 overs.
In the reply an early wicket brought Hamish Warburton (13) and Sam Domville (24) together who put on a good partnership before both bring dismissed and the regular wickets continued to fall. Isaac Bratherton (42) put up some resistance assisted by Ewan Snell (19) and Pete Giles (23) however, the innings finished as the wickets continued to fall and the score ended at 171 all out off 39.1 overs.
A tough loss for the 3rd XI leaves them 5th in the league and looking to continue a good season in the final 4 matches coming up. They next play away to Frodsham on Saturday.

Nantwich Women’s 2nd XI (163/8) vs Oakmere women’s 2nd XI (164/5)
Losing the toss the Women’s 2nd XI were asked to field first. 3 wickets from Carys Salomon (3/33) and a run out got the innings off to a good start. Backed up by 2 wickets from Jane Tarpey (2/5), the regular wickets kept the score at bay. A final wicket to Charlotte King (1/23) and a 2nd run out in the final over kept the score to 163/8 off 30 overs.
In the chase one wicket fell int the 6th over, after a strong start with Abbi Lamidey striking regular boundaries. Lamidey continued supported by Rachel Tidd (16) who eventually fell and King came to the crease. After bringing up her 50 in good time Lamidey was eventually dismissed for a brilliant 71 from 64 balls breaking the back of the chase. King continued with Saloman (18) who’s quick innings propelled the score forwards again keeping the momentum of the innings. One more wicket fell but King (15*) remained and saw through the innings to finish on 164/5 off 25.4 overs.
The women’s 2nd XI took the win with a great all-round performance. They look to continue this into a strong end to the season when they face Runcorn on the 6th of September.
