Oakmere 1st XI (159 all out) Vs Davenham 1st XI (220/9)
The 1st XI won the toss at home and chose to field first. A good start with the ball brought some pressure onto the batsman early with 3 maidens in the first 9 overs. The restriction on runs brought the first wicket for Tom Court in the 10th over and the powerplay ended at 29/1 off 10 overs. The second wicket partnership grew as a hard-fought period came in the field. The rate increased until the second wicket came for Benedict Verma just after the halfway point with the score at 101/2 off 26 overs. Following the wicket a tightening of the runs brought a third as Sevi Cupido claimed one with the score at 128/3 off 33 overs. Court (2/34) claimed another in the following over and as the visiting side looked to accelerate more wickets began to fall. Cupido (2/44) claimed another in the 39th over and the score moved to 165/5 off 40 overs. The last 10 came with the game evenly poised and wickets from Matt Holland (2/38) in the 42nd and 44th over helped stunt the progression. Verma (3/37) returning to the attack also claimed two in the 47th and 49th to help restrict the final total to 220/9 off 50 overs.
With a 200 run chase set for the third consecutive week the home side looked to continue the form of chasing well. Despite starting with a few early boundaries Worsdale (11) fell early in the 4th over and the score was 12/1 off 4 overs. Frank Herrington joined James Norton at the crease and the pair watchfully moved through the powerplay at 23/1 off 10 overs. In the 12th over Herrington (13) fell and Cupido joined Norton. The pair continued fighting through the innings to the 20th over where Norton (23) eventually was dismissed. A 4th wicket of the innings fell the following ball and the 20th over ended with the score at 83/4. Matt Holland came to the crease and grafted hard building a partnership with Cupido who moved past his 50 for the third time in three weeks. After a hard-fought knock, Holland (11) fell and a cluster of wickets followed. Cupido was eventually dismissed for 55 as others fell around him. Ethan Mackin came to the crease and striking 4 boundaries put on a run a ball 18 however when he was dismissed the final wicket fell in the following delivery and the innings ended at 159 all out from 38.5 overs.
A disappointing match against a strong side leaves the 1st XI 5th in the league as they look to return to winning ways next week when they visit Romiley.

Heaton Mersey 2nd XI (293/9) Vs Oakmere 2nd XI (114 all out)
The 2nd XI visited Heaton Mersey on Saturday and losing the toss were asked to field first. The innings started well with an early wicket from Percy Bratherton with the score 22/1 off 5 overs. The 2nd wicket partnership however grew through the innings and became a large stand passing the 100-run mark by halfway as the score moved to 152/1 off 25 overs. Eventually Dave Purcell made the breakthrough in the 32nd over and took a second wicket in the over to follow. The score moved to 199/3 off 32 overs. With a platform set the opposition looked to kick on and wickets began to fall more regularly with Henri Shovelton picking one up in the 35th over and Purcell (3/36) claimed the 5th in the 38th over. The score had come to 227/5 after 40. In the final 10 overs Harry peters (2/31) took 2 wickets in an over to as well as one from Brandon Jones (1/70) and Bratherton (3/50). The score continued to move on as the wickets fell, and the final total was pushed to 293/9 off 50 overs.
A large chase needed looked a difficult prospect with a big innings required. The 39-run opening partnership was ended as Jones (10) fell in the 9th over, but Purcell continued his strong form and carried on. Eaton (16) kept Purcell company until his dismissal in the 17th over with the score at 78/2. Purcell moved past his 50 as he witnessed another partner fall the ball before his run a ball 55 came to an end. 4 wickets fell within 9 balls moving the score to 99/6 from 22 overs. The wickets continued to fall, and the remaining 4 wickets fell for 15 runs with the innings ending at 114 all out from 28.2 overs. Losing 8 wickets for 23 runs brough the game to a close as the large chase ended too much for the visiting side.
The 2nd XI will look to get another win on the board next week when they host Urmston 2nd XI.

Rostherne 1st XI (134 all out) Vs Oakmere 3rd XI (169/9)
Oakmere 3rd XI visited Rostherne 1st team for what is believed to be possibly the first time ever!
Winning the toss Oakmere elected to bat first on what turned out to be an exceptionally difficult pitch to bat on. Losing Adrian Watts early the skipper Ian Bett (27) and Jack Pickering (44) battered with huge concentration and guts (with a number of shooting balls low and high bounces) putting on an 80-run partnership. In the 23rd over Jack and captain both lost their wickets in quick succession. This however gave a strong platform for Lewis Newell (31) and Hamish Warburton (26) to bat aggressively pushing the run rate up. Once they were out regular wickets fell but Roger Pickering batted aggressively to score 20 not out and end the innings on a very competitive 169 for 9.
A father son combination of Jack and Roger Pickering opened the bowling and caused all sorts of problems for the batters on a bowler friendly pitch. Regular wickets fell with Roger ending with a superb 6 for 17 runs and Jack supporting well with 3 for 33. Pickering bowling spells of 9 for 50. It was also good to see Ben Hardie take the other wicket and for Dylan Rae to make his debut at the club.
A good weekend for the 3s to get back to winning ways and winning by 35 runs against one of the top teams in the league. They welcome Winnington to Winsford next week.

Oakmere women’s 1st XI (201/6) Vs Lindow women’s 1st XI (202/2)
Oakmere lost the toss and were asked to bat first. With early wickets the score moved to 23/3 off 7 overs. Pheobe Cottam remained at one end as Sarah Worsdale came to the crease to join her. The pair slowly got into their work and remained resolute at t4he crease. They made it to halfway with a 50-run partnership at 79/3 from 20 overs. Beginning to up the scoring rate the innings moved on as Cottam brought up her 50 and the partnership moved past 100. In the 29th over Worsdale (33) fell after her hard-fought innings with the score at 131/4 off 28 overs. The strong partnership got the innings back on track and coming to the crease Layla Dwyer helped move the score on quickly. Dwyer fell in the 38th over after a quick 26 from 31 balls helped move on the score. Pushing the score over 200 in the final over Cottam remained not out, carrying her bat for 85 runs. The innings ended at 201/6 from 40 overs.
Against a strong batting side early wickets was going to be the key for the defence however, they showed hard to come by. Some strong batting got the chase off to a rapid start with the 100-run partnership coming in the 11th over. The batters continued until the first breakthrough came from Carys Saloman at 161/1 from 17 overs. Saloman followed up with a second wicket in the 19th over. At the halfway point the batting side were 175/2 from 20 overs. With boundaries continuing to come the innings came ot an end after 23.4 overs with the score at 202/2.
After this difficult loss facing a very strong opposition the Women’s 1st XI look to bounce back with a win when visiting Leigh on the 2nd of August.
